Weakness

“ I am weak but thou art strong...Jesus keep me from all wrong...” This country western song is one my Mother liked. I picture her at the stove singing along to the tune twanging out from the cupboard where the radio was kept. We don’t like weakness. Whether physical, mental, or emotional, weakness speaks of “out of control.” Out of control means unknown bad things can come out of nowhere and topple us. When we experience our weakness our mortality is awakened. Yes, we will die some day. The white wall of reality faces us as we look into the unstable. There comes a knowing our security is often simple habit. We watch our hero's fall into physical, emotional, or relational pits and we gasp. Another’s weakness reminds us of our own. "Jesus keep me from all wrong.”
