Grieving During Christmas

1. Be honest about your grief.
2. Include your loved one in the holiday. Stories shared help include their significance to you.
3. Rituals can be renegotiated.
4. Pay attention to the children.
5. Don’t be surprised at what triggers your grief.
6. Others may not fully understand your grief...let your grief be what it is.
7. Have an exit strategy for yourself.
8. Some obligations you cannot back out of. Simple statements like “I am just stopping for a quick visit, ” will help you have good boundaries.
9. Remember the word “no” is a complete sentence.
