Do As I Say

One of the most confusing things a parent can say to a child is "do as I say, not as I do." As parents, we always want our children to do as we say. However, if we tack on the phrase "not as I do," we confuse our children and set ourselves up for future trouble.  As parents, we are responsible to hold ourselves to the same set of standards we hold our children to; so that when we say "do as I say," we are also showing them the way.
