If you know anything about the Israelites in the Bible then you know they often forgot all that God had done for them. You’d think after witnessing so many miraculous things they’d have no trouble believing, right?

Well, we’re the same as the Israelites. We forget! When troubles and trials come our way we begin to worry, fret, and even get angry at and blame God. If you’re honest with yourself you can admit your guilt. I know I can.

So, what can we do? Build an altar!

If you’ve spent any time in the Old Testament of the Bible then you’ll remember that oftentimes the faithful after some significant event would build an altar. The purpose of this altar was to remember.

How can you build an altar today? How about finding a marriage covenant certificate, printing it off, signing it, and framing it on your wall for all to see? How about creating a special day to be celebrated each year to commemorate the time your child stood up for his or her convictions against a Goliath? Or finding a picture or a decorative item to place on your wall to remind you of what God did when there seemed to be no way out?
